Carrolltown Mall Update!!!!

I know someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who emailed Mike Trenery of Black Oak Associates, the owners of the Carrolltown Mall, for an update back in August.  Mr. Trenery was kind enough to reply to this person that Black Oak Associates was in negotiations with a major anchor tenant and that a announcement was due within 60 days.

Well, I know I went to a school in the city, so that discounts my intelligence by about 40%, but I know that 60 days from August of 2012 is not July of 2015.  By my calculations, there should have been an announcement by October 2012.  We are now roughly 210 days past this email exchange.

Can we ever believe anything that Black Oak Associates tells us?  I thought it was bad a few years ago.  But now K-Mart, Blockbuster, and Peebles are gone and NOTHING is happening.  Do they hate us?

There's a rumor that when Money magazine named Eldersburg the 67th best place to live in the United States, the town would have actually landed at 43rd if it hadn't been for Carrolltown Mall.

We can do better than this.

I thought for sure you had some other news to share... bummer. I agree that this is completely unacceptable. If there are no plans for development I would want to hear that... it's better than being left in the dark. I don't really understand what Black Oak has to gain by not telling us anything. It's really just the eye sore of the whole town. I thought it was bad before, but now it's just empty. I guess Black Oak must have lots of spare cash sitting around because they are obviously losing money hand over fist on the land now.

I was talking with a co-worker that lives in our area and he's heard the "rumor" of Wal-Mart tearing down the Carrolltown Mall and opening a SUPER Wal-Mart.

The old Wal-Mart will become a Sam's Club.

Anyone else hear this scuttle-butt?

Earlier this month, I sent Blackrock a follow up to my email from last August but there has been no quick response this time around. Was it maybe that I mentioned how I would like an update on the eye sore falling apart mall that everyone sees as they enter Carroll County from the East?

Sevin, remember this post about the rumor of a Super Wal-Mart? I blogged about it in August of last year.
