Coming to Eldersburg - Super Wal-Mart???

Did you miss me?  I've been on vacation and my wife says that I cannot blog about the vacation, because people would know we were on vacation then they would burglarize our house.  And who wants to blog when you're on vacation when you can be playing in the sand or drinking fruity drinks?

Anyway, I heard some gossip through the grapevine.  I'm not sure how much truth there is to this, but I've heard it from 3 people now, so either it's a fast spreading rumor, or there's some truth to it.  Are you ready?  Wait for it......Black Oak Associates is in negotiations with Wal-Mart to build a Super Wal-Mart in the Carrolltown Center.  Have you heard this one?  As they say in the Snickers commercial, "Great googly moogly."

If it does happen, do you think we'll run into Joe Nichol's eggs and artichoke hearts?

I 'Googled' it, but couldn't find any information.  Have you heard anything like this?

I haven't heard that rumor and I really hope it isn't true. Even if they leveled the entire old mall, vacant theater, removed Wendys and the bank out front, there still wouldn't been enough room on that lot to support a Super Wal-Mart AND parking for it would there? Maybe I'm wrong. Just seems like a bad fit for that property. If it is true I wouldn't want to be the folks who's backyards back right up to that lot. Maybe it will be a mini, slightly smaller, kinda half-a$$ed Super Wal Mart. Kinda like our Home Depot. Eldersburg seems to get the "light" version of a bigger business when they come in.

Wal Mart has always been a little cure for personal pessimism for me. After being in there a while I can always walk out feeling a lot better about myself. Knowing I'm a lot more well mannered and level headed than I give myself credit for...that my wardrobe consists of more than sweatpants and camo, that I have all my real teeth, and that I shower daily. hehe. It also reminds me that I should have just stopped at Target on my way home from work.

I have just received an email and it said that they are finishing final negotiations with a major anchor tenant and if all goes well they will make an announcement within 60 days.

Hussle, how do you get emails about deals such as this? I would like to get in on it!

And we all know how honest and punctual Black Oak has been in the past. Their track record pretty much speaks for itself. When we first moved to the area the mall was rinky-dink... but people still shopped there. The economy was doing quite well. But rather then maintain or even grow the place they pretty much allowed it crumble into the eyesore it is. Then came the years and years of misleading promises to develop the property along LondownTown Blvd. Seems construction was always just around the corner. They can say whatever they want but result of over a decade of owning those two properties seems to be an empty lot (which by the way I actually kind of prefer) and decaying ugly ugly eyesore. And lets not even get into the empty development out by where that old golf driving range. Did it ever occur to anyone that the reason we don't have big retail is because Elderburg isn't really big enough to support it.
