I read today that two asteroids came within lunar distance from Earth today. What that means is the two asteroids flew between the Earth and the moon. Fortunately they were far enough away and didn't hit the planet. The asteroids were said to be about 20 to 40 feet in length and were only discovered on Sunday.
What caught my eye in the article, other than the liberal hysteria that our asteroid detection programs need more money from the White House, is that we need to do more work to find rogue asteroids that might hit the Earth.
What in the world are we going to do if we find an asteroid projected to impact our planet? Send Bruce Willis up in a spaceship to blow it up? Do we really want to know that one will hit us and we're all going to die?
That'd be like knowing that Martin O'Malley is going to win another term as governor. Would you want to know that? Would we want to prolong our suffering knowing it was going to happen? I think not. Just don't tell me if it's going to happen.

It could easily happen, given the blindness of the maryland electorate, and the few republican voters split between Ehrlich, and Murphy. It could easily happen...
